Unveiling the AUDI E7X: A Bold Departure from the Familiar Audi Legacy

    AUDI E7X

The highly anticipated E7X is set to launch next year, marking the second entry from the new AUDI brand.

    • The AUDI E7X has been officially unveiled by Chinese regulatory authorities.
    • This model will debut with a powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, boasting an impressive 671 hp.
    • The interior tech is expected to mimic that of the E5, featuring a wide display and an AI-powered assistant.

Audi recently showcased its E SUV concept at the Guangzhou Auto Show, and now we have more details as the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has revealed the production version known as the E7X. This model closely follows the original concept’s design.

The E7X features a distinctive front end with a fully enclosed grille, maintaining the conceptual feel. However, it departs from its predecessor by eliminating the extensive light surrounds featured on the concept. The production model boasts a more refined lower intake possibly equipped with an active shutter.

As we examine further, the E7X incorporates both traditional and digital side mirrors complemented by new cameras or sensors located on the front fenders. It also presents a roof-mounted Lidar sensor, flush door handles, and a variety of wheel options reaching up to 22 inches in size.

    What are the Dimensions?

The E7X measures 198.8 inches (5,049 mm) in length, along with a width of 78.6 inches (1,997 mm) and a height of 67.3 inches (1,710 mm), while its wheelbase measures 120.5 inches (3,060 mm). Notably, this production crossover is slightly shorter than its concept counterpart.

In terms of size reference, the E7X is 0.8 inches (20 mm) shorter than the current Q7 but boasts a longer wheelbase by 2.6 inches (66 mm).

Although interior images remain undisclosed, it’s confirmed that at least one configuration will offer a four-seat arrangement.

While details are scarce, considering the E5 Sportback features a 27-inch pillar-to-pillar display along with an AI avatar known as AUDI Assistant, we can reasonably expect similar technological advancements in the E7X.

Additionally, the E5 is equipped with three-dimensional wood trim, a dual wireless smartphone charging area, and ambient lighting. Other notable features include a fragrance diffuser and smartly concealed air vents.

    Powertrain Options and Performance

The visuals indicate that variants with and without Audi’s quattro system will be available. Expect an entry-level model featuring a rear-mounted motor generating 402 hp (300 kW / 408 PS). The all-wheel drive variant promises to deliver a whopping 671 hp (500 kW / 680 PS) and reach a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h).

While the MIIT has not provided extensive information on the crossover, the concept model included a robust 109 kWh battery pack capable of achieving over 435 miles (700 km) in CLTC range. It also featured 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling it to gain 199 miles (320 km) of range with just a ten-minute quick charge.

AUDI has confirmed that this eagerly awaited production model will be released next year. Expect to see more details unfolding in the coming months.
