Corvette ZR1 Surprise: Chevy Dealer’s Bold BaT Flip

    Top Gear
    • A 2026 Corvette ZR1 coupe is currently available on Bring a Trailer.
    • The 1,064 hp C8 has yet to be registered and lists for $223k.
    • Notable options include the carbon aero and ZTK performance packages.

It didn’t take long for the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 to emerge in the resale market. This beauty, with only 6 miles (10 km) on its odometer and still unregistered, is up for auction on Bring a Trailer.

The seller is a Chevrolet dealer rather than a private individual, ensuring it comes with a full warranty. The listing clarifies that “this car does not have a title as it has never been sold to a private party owner.”

For those who missed out on their dealer allocation, this presents a unique opportunity to snag a ZR1, but it comes with rules from Chevrolet.

The ZR1 builds on the already powerful Z06, amplifying everything. Under the hood is the LT7, a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 generating a remarkable 1,064 hp (1,079 PS) and 828 lb-ft of torque, all channeled exclusively to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Chevrolet claims a 0-60 mph time in the low two-second range and a top speed nearing 233 mph (375 km/h), placing it firmly within supercar territory.

This specific Corvette is dressed in black, complemented by blue stripes, brake calipers, seat belts, and stitching. Among its impressive options, the $10,495 carbon aero package stands out, featuring several composite components including a sizable rear wing.

By opting for the carbon upgrades, the car also includes the ZR1’s $4,395 ZTK chassis package. This enhancement improves braking and handling through magnetic ride control dampers, carbon brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

    MSRP vs Auction Price

Considerable extras like a nose lift, a few carbon interior elements, and dual stripes raised the options bill to nearly $30k, bringing the MSRP to $222,990.

However, aspiring buyers should note that the auction price is racing ahead of the original MSRP. With one day left in the auction, bids have already surpassed $250,000 as buyers scramble for a chance at the ultimate C8 before the reveal of the even more powerful 1,250 hp (1,267 PS) ZR1X in June.

Potential buyers need to be mindful of the terms. Chevrolet enforces a strict 12-month resale restriction on all ZR1 models. Anyone selling before that period risks voiding the factory warranty for future owners.

This policy aims to deter speculators from cashing in at the expense of new orders still waiting in the queue. In other words, the ZR1 is meant to be enjoyed, not flipped. Would this resale clause deter you from bidding on this ZR1?
