Discover Some Cool And Amazing Upgrades For Your Tesla Model 3

The original Tesla Model 3 provides a fantastic driving experience, but like any car, it comes with its quirks. One of the most common issues reported by owners is with its suspension, which has often been deemed a bit too stiff for day-to-day driving comfort, especially on uneven surfaces. Fortunately, recent developments have turned that challenge into an opportunity.

With the introduction of the refreshed Model 3—referred to as the Highland refresh—in 2023, Tesla made significant improvements to this aspect. Owners of the older Model 3 now have a unique opportunity: they can retrofit their vehicles with the new, softer suspension components, enhancing ride comfort dramatically.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate why a used Tesla Model 3 is such a great find. If you think about it, it’s like the Apple iPhone of cars: it blends innovative technology and sleek design at a price point that’s accessible. It excels in many areas but doesn’t quite have everything figured out, and suspension was one of those sticking points for many.

Owners have expressed their frustration since the Model 3 deliveries started back in 2017. Long commutes or road trips often turned into bumpy rides, ruining what otherwise could have been a peaceful cruising experience. This stiff suspension made it hard to enjoy the smooth, electric drive that Tesla is known for.

Enter the refreshed Model 3 with its redesigned suspension. Thanks to upgraded dampers, spring adjustments, and different bushings, the new version overcomes the previous suspension woes. And here’s some exciting news: these upgraded suspension parts fit perfectly onto older models, offering a value-driven solution to enhance comfort without breaking the bank.

For around $600, you can buy a comprehensive kit directly from Tesla, including front shocks and springs along with rear shocks. With some basic mechanical know-how and a little effort, you can swap out the parts at home in just a few hours. This upgrade feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the pricey aftermarket options. For instance, Unplugged Performance’s Luxury Suspension Kit ranges between $1,075 and $1,395, while T Sportline’s Comfort Suspension, at $890, only includes shock absorbers without the complete package.

Keep in mind that, regardless of how you do the work, you’ll need to get an alignment afterward, so factor that into your overall cost.

In a recent video from RSymons, they demonstrated the before and after effects on a pre-facelift Model 3. Driving the standard version next to both the refreshed version and the same model outfitted with the new suspension made it abundantly clear: the ride was visibly much smoother. While the upgraded ride quality approaches that of the refreshed model, it’s essential to recognize that the Highland Model 3 also benefits from other enhancements like improved sound insulation. So while you can get close, the newest version might still have the edge.

This modification is an excellent way for budget-savvy individuals to make their used Tesla Model 3 nearly as comfortable as the latest iteration. Considering that used Model 3s can sell for around $20,000 to $25,000, it’s a phenomenal option for those wanting an electric vehicle without shelling out upwards of $43,000 for a new one (minus any federal tax credits).

So if you’ve been waiting for that perfect moment to improve your Tesla experience, now’s your chance. You can transform your ride without the financial strain, making it not just a practical upgrade but also a smart investment in your driving comfort.
