Get Ready for a Thrilling Ride: Lexus Launches a New Sports Car with Toyota’s GR GT

    Lexus Sport Concept

Toyota is set to unveil three exciting new sports cars, which include the highly anticipated GR GT and what appears to be the production-ready Lexus Sport Concept.

    • The Lexus Sport Concept is expected to be unveiled on December 4.
    • Toyota will showcase both a road-ready and race variant of the GR GT at the same event.
    • Upcoming models are anticipated to feature hybrid V8 powertrains.

Toyota has recently shared a teaser for three all-new sports models scheduled for debut on December 4. Among the trio, the lineup features a Lexus sports coupe alongside two variations of the GR GT supercar: one designed for road use and another tailored for the racetrack.

    A New Lexus Sports Coupe

While details remain scarce, a shadowy teaser photo has sparked significant speculation. The silhouette depicted suggests a production-ready version of the Lexus Sport Concept, which is easily identifiable by its two-door coupe design and distinctive taillight styling. This concept had already made waves at the Japan Mobility Show in October, giving automotive enthusiasts a glimpse of its near-showroom readiness.

    Minor Tweaks Expected

As we anticipate the official reveal, updates are likely to focus on subtle adjustments rather than sweeping changes. Enhancements might include fine-tuning the vehicle’s details and a refinement of the interior aspects, possibly toning down some of the more futuristic elements.

A closer inspection of the teaser hints at textured rear glass, but it remains unclear if certain standout features, such as roof-mounted fans or illuminated accents, will make it to the production model. Additionally, there are questions about elements like the F1-style brake light that characterized the original concept.

    Hybrid V8 Powertrain

Initially perceived as a fully electric offering, reports now indicate that the upcoming Lexus model may utilize a hybrid V8 powertrain derived from the GR series. It is speculated to launch in 2026 and aims to serve as a successor to the aging LC coupe, as opposed to being a direct descendant of the legendary LFA supercar.

    A Supercar from Gazoo Racing

At the core of the teaser is the GR GT supercar, which is also set to debut on December 4. This vehicle showcases a longer hood and features a more traditional rear window coupled with full-width LED taillights, creating an impressive aesthetic.

    Interior Insights

Recent glimpses of the interior reveal a luxurious setup, highlighting a large infotainment system and physical controls, as well as two snug carbon fiber bucket seats, enhancing the sporty driving experience.

Toyota has disclosed that the GR model will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, complemented by a self-charging hybrid system. The combustion engine alone is expected to generate approximately 800 horsepower, marking it as Toyota’s most potent model to date and drawing parallels to the V10-powered Lexus LFA.

    GR GT

    A Race-Ready GT3 Version

Rounding out the trio is a highly anticipated racing variant that mirrors the GR GT’s design but amplifies it to meet the demands of competitive racing. Recent spy shots and camouflaged prototypes have shown off features like vented fenders, a prominent fixed rear wing, and a more aggressive stance.

This GT3 racecar is anticipated to participate in upcoming GT3 championships, serving as a successor to the previous Toyota GR GT3 concept unveiled in 2022.

The three models will be unveiled during a live-streamed event featuring President Akio Toyoda and Chief Branding Officer Simon Humphries, marking a significant moment for both Toyota and Lexus enthusiasts.

As December 4 approaches, the automotive world holds its breath in anticipation of these new models. With a focus on hybrid powertrains and cutting-edge design, Toyota and Lexus are poised to make a significant impact in the sports car segment. Keep an eye out for what promises to be a thrilling showcase of innovation and performance.
